Authorization to Return to Canada

Immigration officer at the port of entry will decide weather you can enter Canada or not.

During the process of Immigration when applying for a visa, an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), or arrive at a port of entry, If you have been the subject of a removal order from Canada you will probably need an Authorization to Return to Canada (ARC) if you want to return. Whether you need one depends on the type of removal order that was issued.

Types of removal orders

There are three types of removal orders.

Departure Order:

When departure order is issued individual is required to leave Canada with in 30 days. Departure should be notified with a Canadian Immigration officer at the port of exit.  In this situation individual does not need an ARC and can return to Canada subject to normal examination at the port of entry.

Departure orders may become deportation order, if individual left the country without verification of departure and more than 30 days have passed after departure was issued and this case ARC is required to return to Canada.

Exclusion Order

When Exclusion Order was issued and 12 months have passed the day it was issued and Certificate of Departure is in your possession then can enter Canada without ARC. At the port of entry  you can expect normal examination.

Foreign National returning to Canada before 12 months have passed of Exclusion Order or do not have a Certificate of Departure, needs to apply for an ARC.

Deportation Order

If individual have been issued Deportation Order needs to apply for an ARC. During ARC application process individual may return to Canada subject to normal examination at the port of entry.
