Federal Skilled Worker

This program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently.

Under the Federal Skilled Worker Stream (FSWS), an individual needs to obtain 67 points out of 100 through various selection factors. Express Entry profile is created, through which applicant enters the pool and the candidate with highest ranking in the pool is invited to apply for the Permanent Residence.

Selection factors:

  • Work Experience – A valid job offer has to be continous, paid, full-time work (minimum of 30 hours/week) that is not seasonal for at leat 1 year in an occupation list as Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A or B of the NOC.
  • Arranged Employment – can get points if you have a job offer of at least 1 year from a Canadian employer. You must get the job offer before you apply to come to Canada as a Federal Skilled Worker
  • Language Ability – Language ability in English or French provide points and it varies upon proficiency.
  • Successfully clear the minimum language ability in either one, of the two official languages of Canada- French or English
  • Education – It plays important role, as studies completed in Canada provides more points then studies done abroad.
  • Age – Age is also another factor for points.
  • Adaptability –  Blood Relative in Canada, Arranged employment, spouse or common-law partner’s past work in Canada,spouse or partner’s past studies in Canada and spouse or partner’s language level are different factors that provide points .
  • Secure a minimum of at least 67 points in order to be qualified.
